South Park Gardens is a beautiful Victorian decorative model residential park, designed in 1899, constructed in 1900 and opened in September 1901. It was restored in 2008/9 with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is registered Grade ll on the English Heritage Register of Parks & Gardens and is situated within the South Park Conservation Area in Wimbledon.

The Gardens were opened again in June 2009 and the restoration celebrated with a series of events including a picnic, cream tea for over 60s, teddy bears’ picnic for under 5s, music festival and Gardens tours.

Managed and maintained by the London Borough of Merton in partnership with the Friends of South Park Gardens; it provides a much needed and well used green space in the heart of the South Park community.

The Friends of South Park Gardens was established in 2002 to look after the interests of the Gardens and to work for its improvement and maintenance for the benefit of the local community.
